This book provides some excellent instruction in the operation of the brand new Canon EOS 80D. It also contains some information concerning the operation of DSLR cameras in general. My only complaint is that too often topics are introduced and immediately deferred to later sections. I would prefer that a single topic should be addressed at a time. When there is overlap between sections, I would prefer that the reference be made from later material to earlier instead of "teaser" notes promising more information later.

A bit more insightful than the "Dummies" book, and although either of these books does a good job of helping you get up and running. I think David does a bit better job of being easier to understand and yet giving you good pro-level hints that get you started with more expectation of success.I like this reference better, and feel it helped me more efficiently with a good feel of the world of Photography ahead. A bit better done.

Great book, but need time to soak it all in. Mr. Busch is obviously a camera master. Trying to learn how to use the 80D is overwhelming at first. My suggestion is to go out and use it on automatic mode, and then read a bit use a new mode, and then repeat. Eventually, you can work yourself up to the manual/semi-manual mode. I like this book because you can jump around to learn everything from basic to advance camera techniques an issues. This is not a book you read from cover to cover, but more of a reference manual for what you what to learn right now. It's such a thorough resource, I highly recommend it.

Frames per second and buffer size are important when researching a camera, so it surprises me when the book says 5 fps and Canon says 7 fps, the book says the 80D has a buffer for 6 raw and Canon says between 20 and 25 raw. These are significant errors and along with the $10 price increase from my Canon 40D book by the same author, this makes me trust this series of books less. I recommend the less than $10 ebook "The Canon 80D experience" instead as I'm afraid this author may have priced himself out of the market.

I bought this book as I began a new hobby of photography and had just purchased a Canon EOS 80D. It comes with a video disc. The book makes a complicated camera very understandable and the disc has amazing and foundational examples and suggestions for new to even expert photographers. I also bought the dummies version for the camera which was a good supplement to this book. If you only want to buy one book, but this one. This helped me to learn my camera much faster than with the manual alone.

Talk about detailed and authoritative... this guide is packed with what you need to know about your mega-capable 80D.I had owned the original Digital Rebel since it came out. Have a lot of great photos to show for it. but this is an upgrade to a computer with a lens and shutter. Many similar features, but so many added ones. I know, its been a lot of years, so I shouldn't be surprised. I think the Live View mode and remote capability via iPhone is going to be excellent for capturing blue birds and humming birds in flight. I've already got some very detailed shots of wading birds and the increased pixel density is excellent.The guide layout is a bit confusing at first, since there are so many teases and forward references. But in the Kindle version you can just click the link and zoom forward. That literary technique does allow the author to cover the capabilities and controls layer by layer, but if you want to cut straight to the how to, you can. I do want to get a paperback of this guide to keep in the bag. It likely will have lots of sticky notes and tabs that I add to get quickly to the how to pages.In short, I highly recommend this guide, and of course the EOS 80D.

Excellent book! Unlike a ton of photography books out there, it actually gets into the meat of photography as it relates to the 80D in a thoughtful, measured way. So many photography book authors seem to skim over the surface and revel in the fact that they're writing a book and shouldn't you be excited and blah, blah, blah. David Busch's introduction to himself in the beginning of the book reassured me that he know what he's talking about and he has a sense of humor and he's not going to waste my time with silliness.

Everything you need to know about the Canon 80D is in this book. It is up-to-date, and even includes information about using the camera with the relatively new Canon radio enabled Speedlites 600EX ll-RT, 430EX lll-RT and ST-E3-RT Radio Master. Modern DSLR cameras are increasingly complex instruments that demand more from users than just a casual familiarity. To successfully navigate the Byzantine features and menus of these high-tech beasts, most of us need a roadmap. This book is a must-have if you want to understand and take advantage of all of the advanced features that this camera has to offer.

Il semble que le contenu soit bien respecté.Ensuite, il y a évidemment, dans mon cas, des sections (je pense à la fabrication de boîtes ou d'échappements) dont je ne me servirai jamais, mais le simple fait de savoir comment telle pièce a été faite permet d'approcher une réparation ou une restauration avec des méthodes plus adaptées.Je ne mentirai pas en disant qu'il ne doit pas y avoir beaucoup de pages sans croquis explicatifs, en général de bonne qualité afin d'aider à la compréhension de ce qui est décrit.

For example, "Early Years" surprised me with a Ginsburg essay written while an undergrad at Cornell on the evils of wiretapping, reflecting the influence of her mentor, the constitutional scholar Robert E. Cushman. In Part Two, "Tributes to Waypavers and Pathmarkers," Ginsburg reveals a remarkable talent for writing short profiles of prominent legal and judicial figures, including Belva Lockwood, Louis Brandeis, Judah P. Benjamin (a fascinating figure; look him up), Breyer, Cardozo, and especially Sandra Day O'Connor. Nobody can pack more info into a short piece than Ginsburg.The central focus of her professional career as advocate and judge, gender equality, is the focus of Part Three. Symposium introductions; defense of the ERA; her bench announcement in the VMI case; and several summer presentations to summer law students abroad make up this section. One should never forget the impact her unceasing determination had in moving the whole idea of gender equality into the spotlight. Ironically, as is well known, she remains unhappy with the Roe opinion, preferring not to rest it upon privacy but upon straight equality grounds. Part IV has some interesting material on her role as a judge and appointment to the Court.The final section provides an insight into her views of judging and justice. She explains the Court's workways and why she is so dedicated to judicial independence. She defends effectively the role foreign legal concepts can play for the Justices--a hot item with Scalia, while being promoted by Breyer. She articulates the idea of "measured motions," which basically means don't go too far in an opinion in pushing a point. Most interesting, she explains her view of dissents and dissent announcements, an unusual practice in which she has recently engaged. Finally, she shares her most recent second circuit report on Supreme Court highlights for the 2015-16 term; she gives such reports each year and it is quite interesting to read her candid comments.One of the major reactions I came away with is how well she can write in no matter what format--a point quite obvious from her incisive opinions. The book runs some 370 pages, including chronology, helpful photos, notes and index. My only problem with the book is that the editors have chosen to relegate most notes (which I read religiously) to a webpage (see "A Note on Sources"). No matter how hard I tried, i could not locate these notes, and I am inclined to think such a separation of notes from text is not a good idea for it diminishes the ability to ingest the notes as you read. But the book itself is magnificent, whether you are a Ginsburg fan or not. At 83, this veteran of cancer flirtations, wars with Scalia, and many hard battles, has said she will remain on the Court as long as she meets her own stringent standards. For that, we can all be thankful.

First I'd say that I'm a moderate in my political views and with this book you do not need to be a liberal to enjoy it. I've been a fan of Ruth Ginsburg since her appointment in the 90s. Her tell of being the 2nd woman appointed and her relationship with Justice O'Connor and the friendship with the late Justice Anthony Scalia. There are funny parts to the book detailing her wit and charm. It was amazing to find out that she sleeps very little when in court is in session and that she doesn't cook (her family prepares homemade frozen entrees for her). The book is 400 pages long but well laid out and allows the reader to skip around and read at your leisure. There are a few black and white pictures and pictures on notes she wrote. I usually only read digital books these days but this is a nice book to own and keep in your library. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Members of the legal profession are likely to get more from this book than those who are not. Our book club, comprised of many professions, divided along these lines. Many redundant areas - if you're not seeing the legal specificity. Very interesting on the personal level and for the cogency of her remarks given in a wide variety of venues. Understanding the trajectory of her career is awe inspiring, as is the familial relationships.

Inspirational. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a force of nature -- and all Americans owe her a big debt of gratitude for what she has done to uphold democratic principles. She is absolutely tireless, exists on very little sleep, survived 2 different types of cancer, and works out with a trainer to keep fit at age 84 and counting.

GREAT book, documenting speeches, writings, and accomplishments. If you are interested in a biography, this book is not for you. If you want a solid understanding of RBG's work, this is the perfect choice!

I truly appreciate how Bader Ginsburg has served her country. Her wisdom and judgements have helped us grow. Unfortunately, the editing and intentions of this book relied so heavily on the legal verbiage that we lost some of Ginsburg's sparkle.

For some reason I missed that this is not a personally written memoir so much as her previously published work. Which is fine, I'm DEFINITELY interested in that too, but it is something to pick up while drinking a tea and then leaving for a while instead of plowing through it in a few days. Picking my way through.

Perhaps I misunderstood the title, but while Justice RBG is a brilliant and interesting woman, I found reading her speeches and articles very boring.
